Hi,

We are running Remote Desktop Gateway on a Windows 2008R2 Server. Usually, there are around 50 to 70 users daily.

There is a request to produce a "Remote Desktop Services License Report" listing the active users and devices issued a license reservation within the last 30 days.

We have followed the advice in the following URL to produce the report.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/rds-track-cals

However, from the exported CSV file, we only get information like:
Report Date
Report Scope - Domain

Issued to User - Only 2 are shown here (Instead of 50)

CAL Version - CAL Type
Windows Server 2008R2 - Per User - 215

Is there anything I have missed out ?

Thanks

    Hey @TonyJK

    1. Any there warning messages from RD Licensing server?
    2. Is the server joined to a domain? This is required for RDS Per User CAL tracking to work.
If the RDS server is domain-joined, are users using domain or local accounts to log on?
    3. Do you have the licensing mode set and the name of the RD Licensing server configured? For a RDS deployment you would do this in Server Manager -- RDS -- Overview -- Deployment Overview -- Tasks -- Edit Deployment Properties -- RD Licensing tab. Please note that you need to have a session collection created with your server part of the collection.
    4. Make sure the scope of the report is correct: Entire domain / Organizational Unit / Entire domain and all trusted domains

Considerations about RDS Per User CAL tracking and reporting:

    Hi Tony,

Is the Desktop OS or server these users RDP to ?

If the users connect to Desktop OS, this link is applied to users connected to session host server.

To solve no issued CAL in RD license manager , you can create a new user and rdp to session host to see if there's issued CAL.

    Hello Tony,

    a) user pass through RD gateway and access to their own workstation
user in session host means users RDP to windows server not their workstation

    b) On RD gateway , run query user in CMD, see if you can get the active users.
