Hello Josh Ellis, Thank you for posting in Q&A forum. I would like to know some information about your environment. Is your PC running on the server? Did the domain addition method you tried use VPN? What are the errors that result in the failure to retrieve records using nslookup? Will using nslookup continue to work properly in the future, and will errors still occur? The method I propose below will help you troubleshoot software issues. If you still cannot add domain, it may be due to physical hardware (such as network) issues. Possible issues with inability to add domains:
- Please ensure that the personal computer's DNS server is set to Windows Server and that domain name resolution is correctly set up on the DNS server.
- Please ensure that Windows Firewall is not blocking joining the computer to a domain. You can try disabling the firewall.
- You can open these ports: 389, 636, 88, 53, 445, 137, 138, 139, 135, 3268.
You can obtain the IP address by running ipconfig/all on the domain controller and setting a static IP address on the domain controller. On other domain computers, IP addresses and DNS servers can be checked by running ipconfig/all on each computer. I hope the information above is helpful. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know. Best Regards, Daisy Zhou
