Authenticator app gives me a code to enter in authenticator app - can't access my account

I can't log in to my account anymore. Whenever I try, the authenticator app opens and gives me a code to enter in the authenticator app. How is that supposed to work? Please help.

    When you log in, the login prompt will ask for a code from the authenticator app; enter the code you receive in that box.
