Migrate Stream Classic videos to SharePoint

Hi All, There is a need to migrate video files from Stream Classic to SharePoint. I am aware of Migration tool in SharePoint admin center that allows to scan existing videos and then migrate them. The issue is that videos are stored in different sites and user's personal OneDrive folders. Is it possible to include all paths when scan for video files? Thanks.

Hi @Cloud_Geek_82,

Sure, it is possible to include all paths when scanning for video files using the migration tool. One thing to note is that Scans tab can load maximum of 50,000 rows. If your organization has more 49,500 container, you need to migrate first 49,500, delete those, and then discover remaining containers.

Hi @AllenXu-MSFT It is only about 50 video files so I believe it is not beyond the limitation. Do you mind to explain how to add multiple paths like different SharePoint Online sites and multiple users' personal OneDrive folders.

@Cloud_Geek_82, As said in this article: Step-by Step guide to run the Stream migration tool, the scan process is automatic, and you will get containers (a group of files) after scanning. You can select the container you want to migrate then. So, I don't think we need to manually add paths for scanning.

@AllenXu-MSFT Let me ask it this way. If I move the video files manually (I mean right-click on a file and select move and specify a destination SharePoint folder) would that be the same as migrating videos with Migration tool? There are in total about 50 video files so just wondering may be I can do it with Migration tool.

@Cloud_Geek_82, No, the tool is used to migrate Stream (Classic) to Stream (on SharePoint), not just move the storage location.

If I want to use Stream admin center: Stream migration --> Migration tool --> Launch migration tool.

What role I should give a user for Stream Admin Center access.

At the moment a user is a SharePoint Administrator and doesn't have access to Stream Admin Center.

@Cloud_Geek_82, Sorry for my late reply. I just come back from a vacation. To access Stream Admin Center, you should give users Stream (Classic) admins in this page: https://web.microsoftstream.com/admin/?view=Administrators.

Hi @AllenXu-MSFT It was sorted for the user but I don't know the details. As far I understand the video files were already stored in SharePoint Online.
