Hi,
I have a private team in Teams, let’s call it ”Test Team 1”.
In this private team, I am the Owner and I have invited an external user.
I have also created a OneNote-tab in this Team, under ”Notes”.
Recently, I changed the name of this OneNote-tab and after that, the external user is not able to open the ”Notes”.
**The external user gets the following error:

If we translate the error code from Swedish to English, it says:
Unable to retrieve your notebooks.
SessionId: 4bcd9717-f606-45e8-a346-d7660a3cfcb9
Thu, 15 Feb 2024 08:31:16 GMT
Error response: The request does not contain a valid authentication token. Detailed error information: {0}
Error code: 40001
This happens both in the Teams-app and on the web version.
The following have been tested:
-Log out of the external users account in the Teams-app and then log back in.
-Checked the third party cookies (I’ve read that it can has something to do with the problem).
-Remove the external user from the Team and then inviting back in.
-I tried inviting another external user who sadly have the same problem.
Would be very grateful for any tips or pointers!

I have the same problem. Reported it to MS.

We have the exact same problem with one of our users, however, the external users can access the notes via the OneNote application or via https://www.onenote.com/. Is it only via the notes tab in teams that the error comes?

Luckily the our user can work with the app or the web application aswell. Only the Teams-tab doensn't seem to work, but that's only a temporary solution in my opinion

We're having the same issue for external users who are trying to access a onenote notebook linked in teams. It seems to be specifically for users who have been "upgraded" to the NEW teams.

Try to log out and back in to OneDrive and check if this fixes Teams OneNote problem. 40001 The request doesn't contain a valid OAuth token - this error should be fixed when you get new authentication token from OneDrive.

We have the same issue, external user is unable access meeting notes from teams tab
I have experienced something similar with a user in my company. I don't know if the OneNote tab name has been changed, though. The only thing I found was a Reddit thread about a similar issue about a year ago, which suggests it's on MS's end.

Unfortunately no, the error comes both in the Teams-app and on the web as well.
What I have a hard time understanding is that it worked fine until the name change.
This scenario that I described above in my initial text was work related. (I work in a IT-department as a cloud technician).
I did the same setup in my own lab tenant, with a Owner and an external user and the error code was presented to my external test user both in the Teams-app and on the web.
Does this mean that maybe something has changed recently in 365? I checked the polices/configuration for any thing about blocking external users from using Notes in Teams admin center but I couldn't find anything.
We had the same issue but it is now working for our guest users to open OneNote today.
