Changes in Add-in Specifications in the New Outlook
Regarding Outlook web add-ins, it appears that there are differences in specifications between the new version of Outlook and the traditional Outlook, such as the location of add-in display, parameter references for display names, and adjustment of task pane width. Below are the details:
- forwIn the traditional Outlook, when opening a received email, the add-ins were displayed on the ribbon. However, in the new Outlook, add-ins are displayed to the right of reply, reply all, andard within the email reading view.
2-1. When viewing new or reply emails, the group name of the add-ins displayed on the ribbon is different. In the traditional Outlook, the parameter under <Label> directly under <Group> in the manifest file was displayed, but in the new Outlook, it is fixed to "Add-ins".
2-2. When viewing new or reply emails, the name displayed below the icon of the add-ins on the ribbon was obtained from the <Label> parameter under <Control> within <Group> in the manifest file in the traditional Outlook. However, in the new Outlook, it is obtained from the <DisplayName> parameter.
Regarding the tooltip of the add-in icon, in the traditional Outlook, the <Title> and <Description> directly under <Supertip> within <Control> of <Group> in the manifest file are displayed. But in the new Outlook, the <DisplayName> parameter and the <Label> parameter under <Control> within <Group> are displayed, respectively.
The width of the add-in's task window could be changed with the mouse in the traditional Outlook, but it cannot be changed in the new Outlook.
For points 1 to 3, I would like to inquire whether these are correct specifications and if there is a way to achieve the same display when using add-ins alongside those from the traditional Outlook. Additionally, for point 4, I would like to know if it's possible to implement the ability to adjust the width of the task window of add-ins in the new Outlook using the mouse, or if not, if it's possible to change the default width of the task window.
