Why would you enforce an IT policy that allows @gmail and block @outlook.com in Outlook 365?

An IT policy is enforced that you can't access a private @outlook account. But access to a private @gmail account is allowed. IT come up with an explanation about risk if a personal account is registered on the computer. But the explanation is very vague. Does this policy makes any sense from a security perspective or other perspective for that matter? 1000 thanks in advanced. User's image
