Log Analytics workspace creation fails

Hello out there,
I just ran into trouble creating a Log Analytics workspace.
The account I use is subscription owner and is also assigned the "Log Analytics Contributor" role.
When i try to create a log analytics workspace - no matter what name or region - the message "Validation failed. Required information is missing or not valid" is displayed.
I've done this with a few other tenants but never had an issue. Whats's wrong here? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, TB.
