Can't sign into account without authenticator code, but can't get the barcode to set this up without signing into my account

Hello, I can't sign into my work microsoft account as it asks for a 6 digit code. I have installed the microsoft authenticator, but need to scan a QR code to get a 6 digit code and can't sign in to do this. Have been trying to figure this out, it was working previously so not sure what has happened. Any advice you can give as to how to fix this is appreciated.
