Teams will NOT allow Cross-Tenant Guest to be added..."can't add right now"

I have a guest user from another tenant, that is a member of a Team. When I try to add the user to a Teams Channel I get an error..."We can't add the selected users to the team right now." User's image

I've configured the Cross-tenant B2B Collaboration and Direct Connect to Allow both users and applications on both tenants. I read that it takes "a couple hours" to propagate. It's been 4 hours. What am I missing? Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Could you please tell me what type of channel it is (standard, private or shared)?

If the channel is a shared channel, guests cannot be invited to the channel, this is by design.

If it is a private channel, you need to ask the channel creator to invite the guest to join.

If it is a standard channel, as long as you invite the guest to join the team, it will automatically become a member of the channel.

Thank you for your answer. The Channel was a shared channel. I have two companies (2 tenants), where the employees of both companies need to see channels from both companies in Teams. On your advice, in the case below, the user is part of the company Diversified Systems. He is set as a guest member of the HOWI General team, and is shown as a user in the General Team (Standard). I was hoping the HOWI General channel would show up in the Teams panel for the user. When the user is logged into his Teams account in his main company "Diversified Systems", the HOWI General channel does not show in his Teams panel.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you again, Matt

Thank you for your response. It was a Shared Channel. I ran a test and included the user in a Standard Channel. However, that channel doesn't show in the Teams client for the user. We have two companies (two tenants) and we want all employees to be able to see the other company's Channels.

According to the screenshot, HOWI is a team, not a channel. For the relationship between teams and channels, please refer to this document.

As you said, the user has been invited to the team as a guest. If the user wants to see the HOWI team in the team bar, he needs to switch to his guest account, otherwise he will not be able to see the HOWI team.

For this, he needs to open the Teams app, select the user profile icon, and select the guest user related to your organization from the list.

That answers my question. I was hoping the guest Teams and Channels would show up, like they do if the user is set as an External user. Thanks,

We are still experiencing inconsistent results with New Teams Client.I have a Question about it here.

Changing to classic teams isn't really an option because it will be completely unsupported at the end of March.
