Why won't my PC update from 22H2?

I have an HP Envy Desktop TE01-2250xt CTO; Windows 11 Home version 10.0.22621 Build 22621; Intel i5-11400 @ 2.60GHz, 6 core 12 logical processors; 16. GB mem.

I am on 22H2 and Windows Update says "Your version of Windows has reached the end of service." There are no updates available.

How can I update to 23H2, or maybe 24H2? The "Learn more" link doesn't help.

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

Use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant to upgrade to Windows 11 24H2

If it asks for Pc Health Check, you can download it here:

I just experienced this too: An older desktop (for the kids) had windows update saying it needed to upgrade but didn't. The default experience in Windows is poor, because links take you to support lifecycle but that is useless.

Instead, Rodrigo's suggestion worked for me: use the installation wizard (a download) and the pc health check (another download), which reported that TPM was not enabled. Fixing this was a separate search going into Settings | Secury | Windows Security | Device Security + going into my motherboards's bios, which depends on your manufacturer. After fixing, and pc health check confirming, I could use the installation wizard to get back up to date. Thanks!

It works just as you described Rodrigo. It took over three hours to complete the upgrade, with several apparent stops where nothing was happening for several minutes: big stressors thinking it had frozen. But patience was rewarded in the end.

This process will upgrade your Windows 11 to the latest version without removing your programs and files.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

This seems a full re-install. Is there a way to preserve my data and installed apps, or will I have to install a new Windows 11 and re-build everything?
