Retention policy for mailbox attached to office 365 group

Hello

We have an office 365 group, lets call it "Workevent"

We actively use the sharepoint site, teams channel and mailbox attached to this group. We recently have a problem where the mailbox is full.

I wanted to know If I can set a retention policy to apply ONLY to the mailbox. I found a few articles suggesting using the compliance centre but I am concerned this will also apply to the teams and sharepoint site?

I want to set a 'delete after 2 years' retention to the mailbox ONLY

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated
