Third generation embeddings models NOT available (in AI Studio vector search)

Question

Context

• All my resources are deployed in US East 2
• I have followed the Add your data using Azure OpenAI Studio guide, and I deployed the text-embedding-ada-002 model to enable vector search. Everything works as expected.
• 3rd generation embeddings models were released in February 2024

Problem

I have deployed the 3rd generation text-embedding-3-small and -large embeddings models in the same OpenAI instance. Following the same "Add your data" guide, when I get to the "Add vector search" option, only my ada embeddings model is shown.

Expectation

I expect the 3rd generation models to show up as integrations with AI Search. I cannot find any documentation that states the embeddings model must be ada, so I assume that the 3rd generation models should work.

We are actively working on updating this ability to leverage the new Azure Open AI embedding models (text-embedding-3-small and -large). We should have this fixed within end of next month (April).

Until then, You can use the REST API or SDKs and achieve this successfully.
