Trying to do windows update and i get the below message every time since December 2023

2024-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5035853)

Download error - 0x800f0805

I have tried these steps:

  1. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update > Run the troubleshooter.
  2. Disable third-party antivirus software temporarily and try to install the update again.
  3. Perform an in-place upgrade repair using the Media Creation Tool. This will reinstall Windows while keeping your files and applications intact. You can download the tool from the Microsoft website.
    1. When i do this one, i also get an install failed message and system is reverted back.

I have searched everywhere and also have posted this issue in other places(including this community) and have not been able to get a fix.

Is there something else i can do, is there anyone i can call to help?

Regards,

Rick

    Hello Recardo

    Can you try this steps

    1. Manually Download and Install the Update: You can try downloading the update manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog website. Once downloaded, you can attempt to install the update offline.
    2. Use DISM Tool: Run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool to repair Windows system image. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run the following commands:
         DISM

    Hello

Since the issue occurred when we downloaded the updates, we could try to download it and install it manually.

    Microsoft Update Catalog

Try to reset the windows update components. Here is a link for reference:

Additional resources for Windows Update - Windows Client | Microsoft Learn

For antivirus software, it is recommended to uninstall it temporarily if it is possible. As some components of antivirus running in kernal mode, disable it won‘t disable the kernal part.
