Basically i have Business Glossary containing Business Objects and Definitions on one side, and scanned database on other side with all tables fields etc.

Is it possible to map them so called technical tables, fields from scanned database side to glossary objects ?

Thanks.

@Aziz Öztürk - Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

Yes, it is possible to map Business Glossary Objects to scanned physical database tables/fields in Azure Purview. This can be achieved through the use of a feature called "Data Lineage". Data Lineage in Azure Purview allows you to trace the flow of data from its origin to its destination, providing a complete picture of how data is transformed and used across your organization. By mapping Business Glossary Objects to scanned physical database tables/fields, you can establish a clear understanding of how data is being used and ensure that it is being used in a way that aligns with your business objectives.

To map Business Glossary Objects to scanned physical database tables/fields in Azure Purview, you can follow these steps:

    • Create a Business Glossary in Azure Purview and define your Business Objects and Definitions.
    • Scan your physical database using Azure Purview's scanning capabilities.
    • Use Azure Purview's Data Lineage feature to trace the flow of data from its origin to its destination.
    • Map the Business Glossary Objects to the scanned physical database tables/fields using the Data Lineage feature.

By following these steps, you can establish a clear understanding of how data is being used across your organization and ensure that it is being used in a way that aligns with your business objectives. If you need more information on how to implement this functionality, please let me know.
