How do I make a link list highlight showing which page you are on for SharePoint online?

We are redesigning our website which has a parent page, what we are calling second level pages, third and fourth level. When you go into each one, the customer wants to view the hierarchy in a list on the right-hand side of the page. We were able to attempt that, however we would like for the item on the list to be lit up when selected for the customer to know easily which page they are on and navigate between levels. We are only able to do this with the boxes, not in the list. Anyone have solution?

What does "we would like for the item on the list to be lit up when selected for the customer to know easily which page they are on and navigate between levels" refer to?

Basically, we want the item on the list view lit up or highlighted showing which page you are on in the list of links. So, you have the parent page which has 3 other pages under the purview. We have a list of all those pages on each additional page so you can easily toggle from page to page without having to go back. However, we cannot seem to get a list view to highlight the item on that list showing which page you are on out of the 4 links available.
