how do I control a pc remotely without logging it out?

Hi all,

I have a micro PC controlling a display, I want to be able to control this display remotely and I have been trying to use remote desktop to control the micro pc but every time I remote desktop into the pc it gets logged out and the display is returned to the login screen so I manually have to go login.

Is this just how remote desktop works and I need some other software to do this? or am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.
