Security code input required when connecting to a hidden wireless network

I discovered a very interesting phenomenon.

Our company uses Cisco wireless products and also uses Cisco wireless certified products.

We were using web authentication in the OPEN system, but after receiving audit notices, we switched to dot1x authentication over WPA2.

Everything went smoothly and I was using it well.

However, an abnormal symptom appeared on the Windows laptop.

It did not appear at all on MAC products (Pro/Air/iPhone) or Android.

Symptoms are as follows:

This is the process of entering the hidden SSID and entering the ID and password required by the authentication server. If you enter the ID or password incorrectly, the authentication server will naturally reject you.

The laptop that received this packet immediately requests a Personal type Security Code, not an Enterprise type.

We contacted Cisco TAC to resolve this issue, but it was concluded that this packet was being requested abnormally from a Windows laptop.

Cisco products and authentication servers do not request a access challenge at all.

While I was personally doing a lot of testing to solve this problem, I discovered an even more interesting symptom.

When connecting to a hidden network and attempting to connect after entering an SSID that is not being broadcast at all, a Security Code is immediately requested.

I was doing wireless diagnostic sniffing with my MacBook next to me, but no external request or wireless sniffing was detected.

It seems to be a series of processes inside Windows.

Have you ever experienced this?

In the case of MAC products or Android, when adding a hidden network, all information is entered and the connection is attempted at once.

In Windows, this is the same process for adding a new network in control panel, but the method for adding a hidden network by selecting the wifi icon in the right icon tray seems to be different in that it requires entering the SSID first, after and then entering the ID and password. .

In light of this, can we infer that proceeding through the tray icon at the bottom right is incorrect?

in control panel, adding a new network is solution?
