Hey all,

As the title says, I'm getting this error message when I try to complete the Remote Management step of this iPad setup (Intune device): "The configuration for your iPad could not be downloaded from (Company Name)" "The operation couldn't be completed. (BYCloudConfigRetrieveProfileFromWebErrorDomain error -1)."

I've watched several YT guides on Intune setups for iOS devices and followed them consistently... Most threads that I see for this issue don't really have a solid answer, more often than not, I see that this is either a non-issue that resolves itself eventually, it's an issue with the device/enrollment restriction settings, it's a network connectivity issue, it's an issue with admin roles, etc. It's been nearly a week with this same issue, the enrollment restriction is set to 'allow all', I've tested the issue on several different networks and the issue persists, tested the admin role issue, etc. Btw iPad is showing as properly assigned to the server that's connected with Intune. In the Enrollment Program Tokens, the device is showing as ready to enroll & has a profile assigned to it.

Kind of stuck at this point. If anyone has had this issue in the past or have any other suggestions, any help would be much appreciated.

@Maurice Em, Thanks for posting in Q&A. For the affected device, I would like to confirm if it has enrolled before.

Meanwhile, try the following suggestion and let us know the status.

    1. Enroll other devices with the same enrollment profile to see if it can enroll successfully.
    2. Recreate an enrollment profile and assign to the affected device to see if the result will be different.
    3. Do factory reset on the affected device and enroll again to see if it can work.

Please try the above suggestion and if there's any update, feel free to let us know.

I spoke with a rep from Microsoft and found the issue.

In Intune, if you go to Devices > iOS/iPadOS > iOS/iPadOS Enrollment > Enrollment program tokens > Select your active token > Go to your Profiles sections > Click one of them and make sure that in your Properties, the 'Authentication Method' is set to 'Setup Assistant with modern authentication'. I was getting the error message when using the other two options 'Company Portal' & 'Setup Assistant (Legacy)', which is being phased out.

I really hope this helps anyone else out that's having this same problem!
