Huawei devices are unable to receive push notification in the Microsoft Authenticator app. In order to deliver push notifications, Microsoft relies on Google push notifications service to end user who own Android/Huawei devices. Google no longer supports push notifications to those devices and therefore we are unable to deliver push notifications on these devices.
As a workaround, the user can do one of the following:
For existing Huawei users who have already have an account, they could proactively open the Authenticator app and perform a manual check for notifications.
For new Huawei users, if a verification code authentication method is enabled by the tenant, the user can register OTP authentication method using the Microsoft Authenticator by clicking on the "I want to user a different authenticator app" link in the combined registration
Note. last check, tried workaround #2 above with no success. After scan the QR code with "Add account" of MS Authenticator, got message "Google Play services are currently unavailable on the device, so some features will not be available.", click OK, back to Add account screen, account was not added.
Android phones made for China market cannot receive notifications. Usually it is only seen in China. Users only have the option to configure MFA without push notifications in the app. Or use phone calls/SMS.
No plans in the roadmap to change the above scenario.
