Feedback: Please lock old threads

It is really frustrating to get an email about a post or answer that is from a question that could be months or years old. Sometimes somebody does the "this doesn't work anymore after 2 years" comment. In other cases someone posts an "updated" solution that wasn't available back when the question was asked. Either way this is frustrating unless you remember to unfollow old threads.

I recommend some sort of automated solution that auto-locks threads after a certain point. Maybe it is based upon threads that have been quite for a fixed time(a month?) and/or perhaps it is based upon a fixed age (over a year?). This would hopefully cut down on people bringing old posts to the top of the site list when generally they either need to create their own thread or they are not helping the OP anyway.
