Hi MSFT,

The built-in Camera app in win10 cannot play uvc video stream with h264 format, It shows me a black screen. Based on this issue, I captured the usb packets with usb analyzer(LeCroy)/wireshark, I can see that the UVC video stream is being sent/uploaded all the time. But don't know why the built-in camera app can't show it. If I change the video format from H264 to MJPEG, It works well. Besides that, If I change to use other camera app(such as AMCap.exe, ffplay.exe), It also can be displayed normally. Maybe a H264 decoder issue in the built-in camera app? So far still don't know what root cause is . I am trying to get an answer here.

My windows version information as follows:

Version: Windows 10 professional

Version number: 21H2

OS internal version: 19044.3086

Looking forward to getting your reply.

Thanks

Tommy

The black screen you're seeing in the built-in Camera app with H.264 video streams is likely due to a decoder issue.

    • Make sure your Windows 10 is fully updated. Newer updates might include fixes for H.264 decoding issues in the Camera app. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
    • Outdated camera drivers can cause compatibility problems. Try updating your camera drivers.
    • Installing third-party codec packs might seem like a solution, but they can introduce compatibility issues and security risks.
