Using an external monitor for recovery operations

How can an external monitor be used to display during recovery mode when the built-in monitor is unusable? The external monitor does not boot until after the recovery mode options appear.

2024-04-28T10:40:03.6433333+00:00 Perhaps I should explain a bit more. I have an AIO PC and the integrated display is u/s. That doesn't matter as I always use a much larger external HDMI display. I have recently installed a SSD drive and successfully cloned the HDD and now want the PC to boot from the SSD. I realise that if I remove the HDD then it will automatically boot from the SSD, however, unless I am mistaken, when I re-connect the HDD (I want to use it for additional storage), the boot sequence will revert to those set in the BIOS. It's the BIOS I need to get access to and even though I have the PC set up to only display the external monitor, on booting, the I suspect the display drivers are not installed until later in the booting process.
My only other thought is to remove the faulty internal monitor (screen smashed) and connect directly to my external monitor, but I would require a PC schematic.
