Question regarding notification about being required to create all applications inside of a directory

Hi, I noticed a banner coming up in my "App Registrations" page saying:

These applications are associated with the account but are not contained within any directory. Starting June 2024, you will be required to create all applications inside of a directory. Get your own directory by joining the M365 Developer Program or signing up for Azure. Learn More

The "learn more" link is broken.

I need to understand if this means that starting June 2024 I'll have issues with the existing application or only new application will be required to be inside a directory?

Thanks!

    @Phil Dunphy

    Previously, when registering an application using the Entra app registrations experience, if the user was signed in with their personal Microsoft account (MSA), they could choose to only associate the application with their personal account. That means the application would not be associated with or contained in any directory (also referred to as 'tenant' or 'organization'). However, starting June 2024, all applications must be registered in a directory. This could be an existing directory, or a new one that the personal Microsoft account user creates to house their Entra applications and other Microsoft resources. Users can easily create a new directory to use for this purpose by joining the M365 Developer Program or signing up for Azure.

    Registering an application in a directory, instead of only associating it with a personal account, has a variety of benefits. These include:

    • Applications registered in a directory have additional features available to them, such as the ability to add more than one owner to the app, and the ability to publisher verify the app.
    • The application will be located in the same place as other Microsoft resources the developer uses, such as Azure resources.
    • The application will receive improved resiliency benefits.

    Note: This will not affect any existing applications, including existing applications that are only associated with a personal account. Only the ability to register new applications will be affected.

    Let me know if you have any further questions.

    All ı wanted to do is receiving email using python. :'(

    • I needed to use app passwords, to do that I needed to activate 2 factor authentication, and for that I needed to activate IMAP/SMTP access. App password didn't work because imap isn't supported anymore with 3rd party apps. So I used smtp but that also didn't work. So I needed to enter exchange admin center to add a mail flow. But smtp access was not there. So I needed to use Azure Cloud shell but it didn't work because I needed an Azure subscription to use Azure cloud Shell or i needed to make an app registration but for that I needed to create a directory but for that I needed to have an service and for that I needed to have tenant&client id and for that I needed to use microsoft entra but for that I needed to use azure, and for that I needed to make another registration and for that I needed to enter credit card.

    I don't even remember how did I end up here.
