How to retrieve a partition accidently turned into green "Free space"?

I accidently ran some commands -couldn't specify which, but I assume I did something using 'mountvol' that was recommended online-. After that I found partition 'D' turned into "Free space" (green) and framed into "Extended partition" (dark green frame) and another partition -that was dedicated to EFI files for a Linux system- gained the letter 'D'.

Is there a way to undo this and return the partition to its normal state without the need to use data recovery tools? (I tried partition recovery tool and could not do it).

We don't know what its "normal state" was so we'd be guessing here. If you had data on that partition then its gone. Data recovery tools might be able to get it back but it is otherwise gone.

If you simply want to add that space to one of your existing partitions then you should be able to resize the partition next to it (127.16 GB). This will combine the currently free space with that partition to make it one logical partition. It's been a long time but you might be able to do this with your 93.13 GB partition as well. Since the space is free it should just work.

    Hi Ahmed,

    Hope you're doing well.

Open Disk Management by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Disk Management." In Disk Management, locate the affected disk and partition. If the partition appears as "Free space," you may be able to right-click on it and select "New Simple Volume" to create a new partition. Be cautious not to format or initialize the disk, as this will result in data loss.

Consider using third-party partition management tools. These tools may offer more advanced options for partition recovery and management.

Note: Before making any changes to the partition, ensure that you have backed up any important data on the affected disk. This will prevent data loss in case of accidental changes or errors during the recovery process.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
