How can you make a teams channel link on a SharePoint page to open the Teams app only?

Question

When I post a Teams channel link on a SharePoint page, it opens both a browser window and the Teams app. How do I get the link to open in the Teams app only?

The SharePoint site is in a different site collection from the Teams site.

When I post the link in an Outlook email message, it open the Teams app only.

Hi @Vanessa,

According to your description, it is an expected behavior in SharePoint Online. I'm afraid there is currently no way to prevent it.

I recommend you give suggestion in the feedback portal and help to make improvements. Many features of current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. With requirements like this increase, the problem may well be released in the future. I will vote for you.
