Outlook 2019 and Outlook 2010 search not working for emails >October 2020

Outlook will only return search results for emails prior to November 2020. I have followed suggestions of re-indexing, repair office, remove add-ins, new profile, registry change, new office installation with negative results.

  • Office 2019 w/windows 10
  • Office 2010 w/windows 7
  • Exchange Server 2013

I'm at a loss on where to go from here. It sounds like this will need to be fixed at the Exchange server level, but I'm not sure how to verify that. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    This issue has been resolved. Hopefully this will help someone else who runs into this issue.

    I opened a call with MS support on the issue, and was assisted in doing the following:
    Below is the summary of the Ticket :

    • Outlook and owa search was not working.
    • Checked the content index folder from file explorer and was not updated.
    • Rebuilt Search Index on one of the database mbxyzz01
    • Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus *|sort name| Select name,status,contentindexstate
    • Stop-Service MSExchangeFastSearch
    • Stop-Service HostControllerService
    • Renamed the Catalog folder
    • started the services
    • start-Service MSExchangeFastSearch
    • start-Service HostControllerService
    • Issue fixed in OWA and outlook

    Have you confirmed:

    1. The messages do exist in mailbox. You may need running Search-Mailbox
    2. Other Outlook version would work? Such as Office 365 on Windows 10?
    3. OWA searching function working?
    4. Exchange with latest CU installed and Outlook with all updates?
    5. Verify that Windows Search service is running.
