Components installed with VS2022 (e.g., .Net 8, .Net 6) are not shown separately in Windows settings for Apps or control panel's Programs and Features. These components have been updated as needed through the monthly patch Tuesday updates to VS through the Visual Studio Installer.
On May 14 (patch Tuesday) VS2022 17.9.7 updated installed .Net 8 and 6 components to 8.0.5 and 6.0.30, respectively.
On May 28 Microsoft released patches .NET 8.0 Update - May 28 2024 (KB5039845) and .NET 6.0 Update - May 28, 2024 (KB5039843), including security fixes, to "refresh" these installed .Net components to 8.0.6 and 6.0.31.
Will VS2022 17.9 be updated to incorporate these patches?

Hello, it will ship in all supported versions of VS 2022 on July patch Tuesday.
Thank you for following up. It is disconcerting that .Net patches including security fixes were important enough for Microsoft to issue Out of Band updates on May 28 but apparently are not deemed important enough for VS users who now wait to receive the updates until July 9!

I just updated my Visual Studio 2022 to the latest version 17.10.1. It still shows .NET 8.0.5.
Regarding whether .NET 8.0.6 and 6.0.31 updates are included in Visual Studio, it is recommended that you confirm it with the .NET product team.

@Anna Xiu-MSFT Considering that the May 28 patches to .Net include security fixes and are OOB I would think that Microsoft would quickly produce updates to incorporate these patches into Visual Studio. Additionally, although .Net 7 was documented as reaching EOL on May 14, 2024 it also received the May 28 patch to take it from 7.0.19 to 7.0.20 .NET 7.0 Update - May 28, 2024 (KB5039844). Microsoft should get its act together with respect to timely updating of documentation and improve coordination between product teams. The user base should not be put in a position where it is up to us to chase down the facts to resolve uncertainties.
