How to switch off sounds for actions

How do I switch off sounds for doing things like going on and off mute on Teams, or ticking 'complete' on a task? Every time I do a Teams call with headphones on and I want to switch from mute to unmute, it makes a loud 'bing' noise, and the only way that I've found not to hear this is to switch my speakers off completely, meaning obviously that I can't hear anything else - including anyone speaking in my meeting. I have a sensory processing problem that means that a high-pitched noise is about as comfortable as being slapped hard in the face and I NEED to switch off these sounds! I've unticked 'allow notifications to play a sound' in settings, and I've tried every way I can think off to switch off sounds, but to no avail. Going off and on mute is obviously an action, not a notification, and I can't seem to find anything about making actions silent? Help please!

    Hi Susanna,

Thanks for your post. Can I know if you have tried to disable the icon sound with system level? If not, please try the following method and see if it works.

Disable system icons: Right-click on your taskbar and select “Taskbar Settings.” Scroll down to the “Notification area” and select “Turn system icons on or off.” Uncheck the volume icon to hide the volume overlay.Best Regards,

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for your answer. I've unchecked the volume icon but I just wanted to check what this actually does - does this mean all notifications/ actions won't make a sound? Or that volume is permanently turned off for all apps? (I obviously don't want the latter, as I won't be able to hear Teams and Zoom calls).

    Best wishes,

    Susanna
