Outlook 365 Calendar not showing the reminder pop up if the sender has not set up the reminder. Why?

My Outlook 365 Calendar is not showing me a reminder for a meeting if the sender has not set up the reminder in his outlook. I am wondering why do the reminder pop up from my outlook to attend this meeting is depended on whether if the sender has set up the reminder? Why did Microsoft designed it such a way that these are depended? Can you fix this issue so that my outlook is reminded me on all calendar irrespective of if the sender has the set up or not? This is a crucial bug to fix/update..

Welcome to our forum!

As i know, we can set the default amount of time at which you want to receive reminders before new calendar items (for example, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc.). Please try the following steps:

Click File > Options > Calendar.
Under Calendar options, select or clear Default reminders.

Hello ChristyZhang, Thanks for responding. However I was asking why my outlook reminder is not showing the pop up reminder for a calendar meeting if the sender has not set up a default reminder in his outlook. I was not asking about how to set up default reminder in my outlook and the duration of the reminder. I have already set up the default reminder for 15 minutes . but reminder does not show if the sender do not set up a reminder in his outlook I hope you have understood my question correctly.

Thanks for your reply and for the more information!

According to the screenshot you provided, it seems that the organizer set the reminder as None. Based on my test, i found that the reminder of received calendar events will takes precedence over the reminder set by the recipient himself. That is, even if we have set a default reminder, no matter what reminder the organizer sets for the meeting, it will eventually work according to the reminder displayed in the meeting. It's a expected behavior.

Please kindly understand that many functions are not designed at present. To get this feature more quickly, I have found a post in feedback collection website and you could vote for it. Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. You can also make suggestions on that website and hope Microsoft will notice this in the future.
