Greetings,

I am trying to troubleshoot an issue, and I am running out of things to check. I have a Lenovo ThinkStation running on window 11. Starting in October 2023 the device no longer downloads\installs the cumulative updates for Windows 11 for x64 based systems. It will still download and install the monthly .net security updates. I am able to go out and download the cumulative update and install it my self.

Here are a few things I have checked so far:

  • Plenty of disk space
  • Reboot(s)
  • Network connection
  • Made sure the "Pause updates" is not toggled
  • Tried by using the manual "check for updates" button
  • Used the Lenovo tool to make sure all drivers are current
  • Tried with and without the "receive updates for other Microsoft products" toggled
  • Tried another local admin profile

    Hello,

Is there any error occurs when cumulative updates cannot be installed? Can you provide a screenshot of the error message?

When was the last time the cumulative update was installed normally?

Here are some steps you can try:

1.Reset the Windows Update components. Please refer to this link:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-reset-windows-update-components-in-windows/a6acbb29-e6f0-4784-aaac-633672a95144

2.Performing a clean boot. This is a way of starting Windows with only the essential services and programs, which can help eliminate any software conflicts that might interfere with the update process. Please refer to this link: How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

3.Restarting the update services. You can do this by using the Services tool (services.msc) and stopping and starting the following services: Windows Update, Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and Cryptographic Services.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
