Situation:

  • I work for a small company (<30 employees)
  • I want to implement an IdP / IAM solution, Entra
  • I need P1 or P2 to get the advanced Entra features
  • Microsoft Azure does not have a "buy license" button for P1/P2 licenses

How are you supposed to buy a P1/P2 licenses for Microsoft Entra? People on the internet suggest: get the Office 365 for everybody, (which includes Word,Excel) but I really only want Entra P1/P2

Background:

  • Signed up for Azure
  • "Azure subscription 1" (usage based)

Question:

  • Is contacting Sales the only way to buy a P1/P2 license?

    Hi,

You should be able to use link below to purchase Microsoft Entra ID P1 (aka Azure Active Directory Premium P1):

    https://admin.microsoft.com/Adminportal/Home?trysignin=0#/catalog/offer-details/azure-active-directory-premium-p1/AE7A7A7D-7AE8-452C-B496-1E19CF6449C3

The sign-in you use should be billing account owner. Alternatively you may purchase Microsoft Entra ID P2 licenses by clicking on the Details button under Microsoft Entra ID P2 on above page. There are other potential options you may consider such as Enterprise Mobility and Security (EMS) E3 or E5. EMS E3 includes Entra ID P1 and EMS E5 includes Entra ID P2.

Entra ID is licensed per user per month.

Hi TP, thank you for this answer. Really informative. Also it creates new questions:

    • how do you get an office 365 account?
    • why can't I login with my "azure account" to office 365?
    • why can't I login with my "azure entra account" to office 365?

I feel that the experience is not that good when you start as a new user.
