Upgrading Software

Good day,

We currently have VS 2013 with SSDT for SLQ BI develpment,

i am lloking to upgrade in Feb to SQL19 or SQL21

1. Is there a VS21 SSDT to go with SQL21 on the cards i should wait for?
2. Can i install VS19/21 Community for BI Tools & Extensions only on server to develop BI and its completely free?
3. Is BIDS Heper fixed on new version?

Currently, there is SQL19 and VS19 and there isn’t a VS21 SSDT to go with SQL21 on the cards or any information about the VS21 SSDT and SQL21. For now, I may suggest you use SQL19 and VS19.

Can I install VS19/21 Community for BI Tools & Extensions only on server to develop BI and its completely free?

Yes, you can install and use Visual Studio Community 2019 with BI Developer Extensions for Visual Studio 2019 to develop BI. And for VS Community 2019, if you meet the requirements that this white paper(Microsoft Visual Studio Licensing) mentioned(page 8), then you can use VS Community for free. For BI Developer Extensions for Visual Studio 2019, it is free to use.

Is BIDS Helper fixed on new version?

I think the BIDS Helper you mentioned is this extension: BI Developer Extensions for Visual Studio 2019, if it is, then I suggest you can directly ask this question here: GitHub BIDeveloperExtensions/bideveloperextensions issues.
