SharePoint 2019 OnPremise Search result in modern ui

Question

Hello everyone,

we have two files, one pdf and one docx with the same name und and same content in one library folder.

If i use the search on the site i only get one document (in my case the pdf file). If i get into the detailed view I can choose between different filetypes. If i select docx, i get the word document but i never get both documents in one view.

Is that an expected behavior or do we have a possibility to show both documents in the search results.

If you have proper access on those files you should be able to see both, does the files have unique permissions ? Try Re-Index the List and see if you can see the results.

thanks for your reply. I have access to both files. They are placed in the same folder. From the central administration i deleted the index and start creating a new one.

But the result is the same.

Per my test, I cannot reproduce your issue, as shown in the screenshot below, greenbear.pdf and greenbear.docx have the same content and name in testfolder.


If this is not your situation, please tell us more information, screenshots will be helpful.

Based on that you have access, we have some information to confirm:
Is this the only .docx document that cannot be displayed in the search results?
If all .docx files cannot be displayed in the results, you can go to the CA to check whether the filetypes contain .docx:

Or if this is an issue with one document, please have a try to check the crawl logs. You could refer to this article for more information.

thanks for the fast reply :)

here is my example.

These are my files in my folder

Now if i go to the top folder an search for automobilhersteller it is showing only the pdf file.

The same bevahior occurs when i look for something in the files e.g. full text search

Even if i hit return an see "all" my search results. I only get the pdf.

And at least, if i select Word type on the right site, i got my word document but now it doesn't show the pdf (which i guess is okay because i selected word but only for you to see that the doc is there)
