Hi there, this is the error msg our client is receiving "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in the starting the process for the user interface.

They keep rebooting the computer and pressing continue until it goes to login screen. At the moment they have not turned off the computer for days because they are afraid they won't be able to log back in. I tried to attach the exact error msgs, but the files were too big. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    I guess you need to get hold of the SQL Server errorlog for the user instance to find out why the user instance is not starting.

    And, no, I don't know exactly where you find this log, but it should be in C:\Users\ThatUser somewhere, I think.

    Beware that user instances is an old dusty thing, which was essentially replaced by localDB in SQL 2012.

    And, oh, by the way, the error message looks like it comes from an application, so you would have to dig into the source code of the application to see under which conditions it produces the error. The thing about the user instance, could be a red herring.
