Azure remote backup stuck and unable to cancel job

We are running an Azure remote server backup of a physical backup. The backup job in Azure is reporting as in progress but on the server the Azure backup MARS console is showing that the backup has failed. The option to cancel the backup in the Azure backup job details is greyed out.

Can anyone advise how this job can be cancelled or reset?

The job might be displayed as "in progress" in the Azure Portal even when it is "not running or failed". This stale job entry will be removed from the Azure Portal automatically after 30 days.

Since the backup job is showing failed in the Azure backup console, you can trigger a new backup job. However, I suggest you check few things before starting a new backup job.

Once the agent is updated, you can first try to run an on-demand backup by using the "backup now" option from Azure backup console > action pane.

If on-demand backup runs successfully, you can wait for the scheduled backup to finish.
