Teams not allowing music through

Anyone else having issues with Teams not allowing music, even with high fidelity on and noise reduction off?

We had been playing videos externally and sending sound into Teams PC via USB interface. But, in the last few weeks, no combination of settings allows the music through. Sometimes the voice of the song can get through, but music is stripped out.

    Dear Scott,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. I am happy to help you.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing because of issues with Microsoft Teams not transmitting music correctly. This problem can arise due to several factors, including recent updates, device configurations, or Teams’ handling of audio inputs.

Here are some recommended steps to help resolve the issue:

    High-Fidelity Music Mode Activation:

    • Ensure that High-Fidelity Music Mode is enabled during the meeting, not just in settings.
    • During a meeting, click on the music note icon at the top of the meeting window to activate High-Fidelity Music Mode. (Music mode isn't currently available during when usingspatial audio.)

Ensure that Noise Suppression is set to Off in both the Teams app and the Windows system microphone settings.

    Turn Off All System-Level Enhancements
Some system audio drivers apply enhancements that can interfere with how Teams captures music:

    • Open Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab
    • Select your microphone or USB input > Properties
    • Go to the Enhancements tab and check “Disable all sound effects
    • On the Advanced tab, uncheckEnable audio enhancements

    Adjust Teams App Settings Manually
In Teams > Settings > Devices

    • Under Microphone, ensure your audio input is selected correctly.
    • Scroll down to Noise Suppression and choose Off.

Kindly try the above steps and let me know if the issue persists. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

    Best regards,

Ian Ng - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist.
