In the middle of the year we had
why those working features got removed and never came back?
The feature set of new versions stays always the same since teams_1.3.00.5153 (except raise hand). I can't find any road map that tells what we could expect next.
There is this UserVoice running with more than 3410 votes already and no one of Microsoft ever commented!!!

I completely understand your feelings. Removing these features will indeed make a difference to our user experience, sometimes with a few inconveniences.
I will confirm with Teams for Linux development team about whether these features can be back in the future. Any update I will share with you.

It would be great if you were able to provide a roadmap showing when we can expect new features. This would also avoid the constant requests for it, so it is also in your interest.

I got some feedbacks.
Regarding the red border, it stopped working because of a bug. It will be back, however the date is not sure.
Regarding 3x3 grid, it has no specific information yet.

I would appreciate an update on Microsoft's commitment (or otherwise) to maintaining a Linux client for Teams. The Linux client has fallen far behind those provided for Apple and Windows (as well as the mobile clients). There has been no substantive update for months. The Uservoice request, https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/40324324-keep-the-linux-client-up-to-date-with-the-latest-f has over 4,800 votes but no response from Microsoft (the only Teams uservoice with this many votes and no engagement from Microsoft). The perception is that Microsoft is deliberately throttling the Linux client though that would be irrational in a cloud services world.

It's super weird that everything else has gotten up to 49 and not Linux. Virtual backgrounds etc can be worked around with some work and virtual web cams, but I need to be able to see more than 4 people which quite frankly shouldn't have been the limit on day 1 of a video conference app that came out in 2019. Until I see proof that Teams has a "Linux team" I don't believe it.

Oh well glad we are all in a agreement. It still kind of cracks me up that it says "Preview" on the application still.
Despite attempting to verify and correct my Video Acceleration settings, I've had numerous issues with Desktop Sharing and Giving of Control from my Debian 11 GNU\Linux box to my coworkers that use MS Windows. MS Teams shouldn't require Video Acceleration to give users control:

Zoom does not have these issues. I often wind up having to use Zoom at work to communicate from my GNU\Linux Box with an MS Windows coworker for this reason.
Also, MS Teams is constantly "lying" about my status. I can be at work coding away and MS Teams for GNU\Linux will report that I'm unavailable... This would be a real problem if my supervisor decided to start using MS Teams to "check up" on me someday.
MS Teams is "supposed" to be developed on Cross-Platform Electron right? So why doesn't it work consistently across the two different Operating Systems? I wonder what would happen if Microsoft trashed Electron and went with plain HTML5/Audio-Video API

As much as I do not like Java, it works consistently among Mac OSX, GNU\Linux, UNIX and MS Windows. There is no reason why modern .NET can't be made to do the same.
Also, where is MS Teams 2.0? Will it finally work on GNU\Linux?
Finally, .NET Core for WebApps works amazingly well on GNU\Linux. When are we going to have an OpenGL (GNU\Linux and Windows)/ALSA (GNU\Linux)/Direct Audio (Windows) layer for .NET regardless of Host OS? If Microsoft would make .NET truly cross platform where desktop apps could run on GNU\Linux (and not just WebApps), then Teams could maybe be coded in the more efficient .NET instead of that Electron garbage.
Updated to MS Teams for GNU\Linux 1.5.00.10453 (64-bit) and I still can't give MS Windows users control...
That's as a regular Debian 11 user. MS Teams won't even launch right now for some reason when I login as root...
