New Windows 11 Pro OEM Install Issues

I am sure I am the maker of these issues by trying the following install process:

On a brand new ASUS NUC 13 i7 I connected a cd drive containing a brand new legitimate OEM cd of Windows 11 Pro purchased from Centrecom and started the PC, I was then called away interrupting the process for a couple of minutes.

On my return I was offered the option of restoring my files, which I foolishly accepted without thinking about the consequences.

This resulted in an install of a previous laptop system of Windows 10 Home, for which I had also previously purchased an upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from the Windows Store back in 2021.

I then planned to activate this and then use the new cd to upgrade toWin 11 Pro, but the only way I could activate the Win 10 Home install was by using the original Product key for that install, which I did and then it let me upgrade, but only to Windows 11 Home.

THAT WAS MY BIG MISTAKE!

  • I then tried every which way to upgrade to Win 11 Pro without success, including:
  • Trying connected to the internet with either the old win 10 key, or the new win 11 pro key, which results in error 0xc004f050.
  • Trying disconnected from the internet using the generic upgrade key, including tring the restart option when the wrong key error code was initiated, which results in error code 0x803fa067.
  • Trying a clean install using the win 11 pro cd and wipe everything option, which got through the install but then crashed to the unable to Start / Try to Repair screen.

I assume that the problem is based around the original win 10 home key being written to the security chip, so how can I fix this?User's image

I can start and run the pc, but only in the Windows 11 Home upgrade.

    Hello

It sounds like you’ve had quite a challenging experience with your Windows installation!

    Error 0xc004f050

This error typically indicates that the product key you entered is invalid or cannot be used to activate Windows. Here are some steps you can try:

    1.Disconnect from the Internet:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation.

Click Change Product Key and enter the generic key for Windows 11 Pro: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T.

    Restart your PC.

After the restart, go back to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and enter your purchased Windows 11 Pro key.

    2.Clean Install:

Create a bootable USB drive with the Windows 11 Pro ISO.

Boot from the USB drive and perform a clean install, ensuring you delete all partitions during the setup process.

    Error 0x803fa067

This error can occur if there’s a problem with the activation key or a recent update. Here are some steps to fix it:

    1.Use Command Prompt:

Open Command Prompt as an administrator.

    Run the following commands:

    slmgr /upk

    slmgr /ipk <your-product-key>

    slmgr /ato

    2.Activate by Phone:

Press Windows + R, type slui 4, and press Enter.

Follow the prompts to activate Windows by phone.

    Clean Install Issues

If the clean install crashes, it might be due to hardware compatibility or corrupted installation media. Ensure your installation media is created correctly and try again.

    Additional Tips

Check BIOS/UEFI: Ensure there are no remnants of the old Windows key in the BIOS/UEFI.
