I am trying to fix an issue with my people search not working properly. I have cleared the config cache and reset the index and preformed a full crawl but I am getting errors from the crawl all of the errors are "The content processing pipeline failed to process the item." Which upon researching that error I found that I should check the logs with ULS Viewer to look for an error pertaining to failing to map a managed property. I didn't find that in any of the logs. I went to look at the managed properties and when I go to the Search Schema I cannot view ANY of the properties and all I get is An Unknown Error Occurred at the top of the page, when I try to search for a property no results are displayed. The same for crawled properties and when I click on the Categories tab it shows all of the managed property categories all list 0 properties in the category. I have several custom properties I do NOT want to recreate this search service AGAIN. Please help.

This error may be caused by set the Allow multiple values to True of a Managed Property but the Site Column does not accept multiple items.
Please log in to your application server where the search is configured and open the recent ULS log and do a keyword search for “Content processing”.
Removed Multi from the managed properties and ran the full crawl.

If the problem persists, re-create the manage property and full crawl.

-This means i already looked for that, that particular involving the allowing Multiple values in a managed property that should not have multiple values, is not in my logs

-This means even if I wanted to modify a managed property I cannot because they don't show up, AT ALL, NONE OF THEM, not even the defaults ones.
If circumstances permit, rebuilding a new search service is a more effective solution.
