Filters at workbook stop metric widget at workbook
Hello all,
I have a workbook that was working perfect for weeks and for few days now one widget has stopped working. I have troubleshooting it and Ι found that the issue is at the filters. The widget is "Metrics" and when you add any filter to any of the metrics the widget stop.
Do you have any ideas on that?

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the "Metrics" widget in your Azure workbook.Recent Azure Updates:
Service Changes: Sometimes, updates or changes in Azure services can affect existing workbooks. Check the https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updates/ page to see if any recent changes might impact the "Metrics" widget or filtering functionality.
Filter Configuration Issues:
Syntax Errors: Please cross check that filters are correctly configured or not.
Valid Values: Verify that the filter values correspond to existing data. If you're filtering on a metric that no longer has data, the widget may appear blank.
Case Sensitivity: Few filters are sensitive double check the values.
Time Range Conflicts: Make sure the time range selected in the widget includes data points for the metrics you are filtering.
Scope Changes: If the scope of the workbook or widget has changed (e.g., different resource group or subscription), the filters might not align with the available data.
Metric Availability:
Deprecated Metrics: Confirm that the metrics you're trying to filter have not been deprecated or replaced.
Data Ingestion Delays: There might be delays in data ingestion that cause metrics to be unavailable temporarily.
Permissions and Access Rights:
Access Denied: Ensure that your user account has the necessary permissions to view the metrics and apply filters.
Role Changes: If there have been recent changes to your role or access level, this could affect the widget's functionality.
Browser and Cache Issues:
Clear Cache: Sometimes, browser cache issues can cause unexpected behavior. Try clearing your browser's cache or using an incognito window.
Browser Compatibility: Test the workbook in a different browser to rule out compatibility issues.
Widget-Specific Problems:
Recreate the Widget: Try deleting the problematic widget and adding it again to the workbook.
Test Default Settings: Add a new "Metrics" widget without any customizations to see if it works. Then, gradually apply your configurations to identify when it breaks.
Diagnostic Logs:
Check Logs: Look at the diagnostic logs or any error messages that appear when the widget fails. These logs can provide specific error codes or messages that can help identify the issue.
Enable Debug Mode: If available, enable any debug or verbose logging options to gather more detailed information.
External Dependencies:
API Limits: Verify that you're not hitting any API rate limits that could prevent data from loading when filters are applied.
Network Issues: Ensure there are no network restrictions or outages affecting data retrieval.
Consult Azure Support Resources:
Documentation: Review the Azure Workbooks documentation for any notes on known issues or recent changes.
Community Forums: Visit the Microsoft Q&A or other community forums to see if other users are experiencing similar issues.
Support Ticket: If the problem persists, consider opening a support ticket with Microsoft for personalized assistance.
Test with Different Filters:
Isolate the Issue: Apply different types of filters to see if the problem is with a specific filter or all filters.
Minimal Filters: Start with the most basic filter and gradually add more complexity to identify the breaking point.
Check for Hidden Characters:
Encoding Issues: Sometimes, copying and pasting filter values can introduce hidden characters or incorrect encoding. Manually type in the filter values to avoid this.
Workbook Versioning:
Rollback Changes: If you've recently made changes to the workbook, consider reverting to a previous version where the widget was functioning correctly.
Metrics Namespace Changes:
Namespace Verification: Metrics are organized under namespaces. Ensure that the namespace for your metrics hasn't changed and that your filters reference the correct namespace.
