One Drive won't let excel links work unless all spreadsheets are open

Question

so i try to linked 1 workbook to another workbook, but it seems like it doesn;t work if i close 1 of the workbook so it won;t be linked automatically, i have tried several ways like going to data and edit link, yep it works, but after i close the the workbook and reopen again, i still need to do the same way like edit the link and change the resources (actually it was the same resource) again just for the workbook to be linked.

Is there a way to set these to work properly? i've been using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016.

I want to confirm are you using OneDrive personal or OneDrive for Business?

According to your image, I find you that use formula to refer to cell H9 in another workbook.

How is it not working? Is it an error showing #REF! or others, or is it not automatically updating H9 data?

• Please go to Data tab > Queries & Connections group > Workbook links, click Refresh for the cell link.
• I also suggest you go to Excel > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > External Content, enable all Data Connections and enable automatic updates for all Workbook links temporarily for a check.
