403 Forbidden Error on Bot Adaptive Card Actions

A 403 Forbidden error occurs when trying to perform actions from Bot adaptive cards in a conversation where the Zoho Notebook bot is not added. We get a "permission denied" error (see the screenshot below) for the ME invoke call in the network tab, and the Adaptive Card JSON for the card is attached.

In the above TeamsAdaptiveCard.txt file, I have included the Adaptive Card with the actions part, and I am receiving an error for the "ShareView" refresh action.

Note: I cross-checked this issue by adding bot support to our application using a custom manifest package. In this custom app, after adding the bot to the specific group chat, the actions reach our end and work fine when the action button is clicked.

Please let us know the reason for this issue. We are using Bot REST APIs to post bot cards for bot commands.

Could you please share any repro steps or deployed manifest so that we can repro it from our end? Repro video would be really helpful also.

Repro steps: 1) Go to teams.microsoft.com. 2) Install the Zoho Notebook app by searching for "Zoho Notebook" in the Teams store. 3) Create a test group chat. 4) In that chat, open the Zoho Notebook message extension. 5) Search for text and post the card. 6) Click the refresh action in the three dots (...) at the top of the card.

Zoho corp, thanks for sharing this. The 403 Forbidden error indicates that the bot does not have the necessary permissions to perform the action. This can happen if the bot is not added to the conversation.
Please ensure that the bot is added to the conversation where the actions are being performed.

Hi Prasad,

Yes, the bot is not added to that group chat conversation, and our app doesn't have group chat support for bot commands. So, we can't add the bot to the group chat, and the card was posted using the Message Extension with action buttons when we trigger the actions button, we don't receive any request from Microsoft, and we get a permission denied error as mentioned previously for the ME invoke call in the network tab. Let us know how to proceed further.

Note: If we had bot support in group chats, would the user need to manually add the bot for every Message Extension posted in the channel?
