Memory caching (standby memory) stopped working on Windows 11 release preview (currently on 26100.1457)
I noticed that launching programs for a second time after closing them takes much longer. I used Ram Map to check the actual files and they get evicted from ram immediately after I close the programs using them.
Before this update, the files used to stay cached in standby memory and made subsequent program launches and folder browsing faster, now the files are evicted immediately after closing the programs or switching folder in explorer.
I would normally find more than 10 GB of standby memory allocated after using my system with 32GB of ram after a few hours of use even with all the programs closed, not it stays under 1 GB even after 10 hours of use.
I don't remember messing with the registry as of late, prefetch is active and the SysMain service is running. If you happen to know what might have caused this change of behavior or if you are aware of changes applied by Microsoft to the way standby memory works to the current release preview builds please let me know, I feel like I am trying to chase a ghost while attempting to fix this issue.
I have tried to do an in-place reinstall, keeping personal files and programs, it didn't solve the issue.
