Active Directory-based activation

Hello friends!!

I have been in my company for a short time, the technicians have told me that they do not know how the KMS was configured, only that a datacenter2016 host key was used...

When checking, I see that the computer is activated by an AD object. And I see through the "Volume Activation Services" role that it is configured based on AD and not by KMS.

How did I realize? I realize because based on AD I have the possibility of going directly to the configuration.

And for the KMS key management service it asks me for a host key and I do not have the "go to configuration" option enabled.

Am I right?

Since now I know that I configure based on AD, now I must add more keys to activate the 2019/W10 and Win 11, that are in my company.

I have no experience working with AD-based activation.

My question is, when adding a new host, does the existing object (Datacenter2016) get deleted or does it add new objects?

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

AD is a tool for managing company assets, it allow VAMT(Volume Activation Management Tool) discover computer by querying AD DS. I guess this is the reason you can see this computer based on AD.

AD won't delete any computer without permission.
