How to un-enroll an account if you no longer have access to it

Hello,

I recently switched companies and when setting up the Outlook app on my iphone for the new company I received the following misconfiguration alert.

"Your admin wants the apps on this device to me managed with the account (old email). The app account you are using (current email) will be removed. To access your organization's data with the account (new email) you must un-enroll your device from the Company Portal."

However, I don't have access to my old account because the account was closed. I have tried several times to delete the Outlook and Intune apps to clear the data but this was unsuccessful. I have spoken to IT at my current company and they aren't able to override it. If you have any advice on how to move forward I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Allie

@Hull, Allison Thanks for posting in Q&A. For the error message, it means the device is still managed by the previous tenant. To unenroll the device, the general step is contacting your previous company Intune admin to retire or delete the device in both Intune and Microsoft Entra portal.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/remote-actions/devices-wipe#retire

On device side, we can also unenroll the device via company portal.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/remote-actions/devices-wipe#manually-unenroll-devices

I notice you have already tried to remove Intune app. But it is not working. If this is iOS device, you can also try to remove management profile under Settings-> General on the device to see if it works.

For Android device, you can try to remove the work profile to see if it works.

Note: Non-Microsoft link, just for the reference.

Another method I can think is to backup the data and factory reset the device.

Hope the above information can help.
