A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
I uninstalled and re-installed Office; no change (still says "Proofing Available")

WORD does not flag spelling or grammar errors. When I open Options/Proofing, it appears that it is correctly set up. Under Options/Language, it lists "English (United States)", followed by a link titled "Proofing Available." That link takes me to a page titled "Install the English Language Pack for 64-bit Office"; when clicked, it downloads "OfficeSetup.exe"; that re-installs Office, but this makes NO CHANGE; proofing is still not functioning.

thanks, but no help. Word keeps telling me that "proofing is available", then when that link is followed, prompts me to download "OfficeSetup"; but the reinstall does not fix anything.
I have tried both of those, multiple times. It always ends up showing "proofing available", that links takes me to "Language Accessory Pack", or to "Install the English Language Pack". In both cases, the download is always "Office Setup"; that installation never changes anything.
All of your suggestions are sensible, but none of them are working
Hello,
When you have an obviously misspelled word that is not marked, click in that word. Then check the language setting. See https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/fo...
