Why all my printer model converted to HP LaserJet M101-M106?

Dears,

i woke up this morning to find out that all my printers have changed their models to HP M101-M106 despite i don't have this model installed and i have canon instead.

On top of that, when i double click on them, it says "no task are available on this page".

I think it occurred after an update for windows. 22H2 ver 22621.2715

any ideas?

HI, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

There are many people reporting this same problem where all printers are now showing as a HP LaserJet M101-M106, it seems to be a problem caused by a recent update.

Try uninstalling the latest Windows update to see if that resolves this, and also, open the Feedback Hub (Windows Key + F0 and report this problem to the Windows developers so they can investigate this.

    Hi,

We think it's to do with the printer images Microsoft is pulling down from the Internet. I saw the printers refresh and change right in front of my eyes.

We have multiple print servers on both 2016 and 2019 that have the same issue.

We restored a backup of a VM from last night (same updates) and spun it up offline. It no longer had the issue, which leads me to believe it's internet related and not update related.

Also, if you go into the advanced properties of the printer and look at the driver, it's still correct.

at most of the affected pcs, printing and spooling works fine , although the problem mentioned before is active.

in one pc it also afected the spooler service , it could nt run because of a driver problem according the event viewer .i managed to delete all the drivers

and after that ,the spooler could start normaly . but the issue is still active and the printers when i reinstalled them are always offline.
