Office365 overwriting my licensed Office 2016

Reader,

I bought my HP notebook Laptop (Windows 10) in 2017 with Office365 for one year.

I have not extended the 1 year as I did not need the Office365. Now I want to install a licensed Office 2016.

After I have downloaded the Office 2016 packet, I can start, for example the Office Outlook, correctly but after a couple of minutes it changes to Office365. Informing me that I have no license for Office365, which I knew.

Question:

How can I stop Office365 to overwrite my licensed Office 2016?

Thank you, VikingHans (NL)

You need to uninstall your Office 365 (not delete it) Use Microsoft Uninstall tool use:

Option 2 - Completely uninstall Office with the uninstall support tool

    >> Nothing overwrites, the two install in parrellel

With click to run, you can only have one office installed - it's not overwritten, but its also not installed "in parallel" in that there are two versions of office - the license is added and that controls the features you see. Both licenses might be listed in File > Account.

    Hi VikingHans,

You need to remove the license for the subscription version.

For 64-bit Windows and 64-bit Office.

Type cmd on the start menu and open the Command prompt when it comes up.

Paste this line in the window (right click to paste):

    cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS" /dstatus

The Command windows will list the licenses installed on your computer, showing you the last 5 characters of the product key linked to the license. The subscription version will say 'subscription' in the name. command window displaying the licenses

Paste the next command, replacing the xxxxx with the last 5 characters to remove the subscription license.

    cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS" /unpkey:XXXXX

Repeat for each license you want to remove.

If you have the 32-bit version, you need to use the 32-bit path for Office:

    cscript "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS" /dstatus

Use this line to remove the license, replacing the X's with the last 5 characters of the license key.

    cscript "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS" /unpkey:XXXXX

AND, after doing the uninstall of 365, do an Office Repair of the remaining installation.
