Controlling settings, permissions, and membership within Teams and channels
I couldn't find the "preset timer" app anywhere, even looking at the policies in Teams App Management console.
I found an alternative using Power Automate to set up a timer and notification within a channel, chat, or meeting. It's pretty useful IMHO and wanted to share.
How to set up a timer from a Teams Meeting
- Open Teams Application.
- On top ribbon, click on Apps button.
- Click on Get more apps button.
- Under Apps in top left, search for keyword “timer”.
- Click on Start a timer workflow.
- Click Add to create the timer workflow.
- Name your timer workflow.
- Click Sign in to permission your workflow.
- Click Add workflow button to publish the timer workflow.
- After a few minutes, you will receive a “Workflow added successfully” message. Now you have a timer app installed in your Teams Client and can use in a Team Channel, Chat, or Meeting.
- From within a Team Channel Post, Chat, or Meeting Chat where you type messages:
- Click on ellipsis (…) button.
- Click on … More apps button.
- Click on Workflows button.
- Click on your Timer Workflow.
- Enter Count (how many seconds, minutes, etc.)
- Enter Unit (seconds, hours, etc.)
- Click Submit
- When the specified time has passed, everyone will receive a message in chat.
- Repeat as necessary.
